Description

The Bissell PowerLifter bagless vacuum excels in cleaning pet hair because of its power, but also special attention to details. The clear canister can easily be seen when it is full and ready to be emptied. And emptying it is simplicity itself. A one-hand operation all the way through allows you to remove the dust box and empty it over the bin as it opens from the bottom. Though this model is still under review for us, there’s plenty more to get excited about here. Shark’s odor neutralizer, anti-hair wrap technology, and dual brush rolls are all on hand to make cleaning easy and smelling great. The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Cylinder has strong suction and many would argue that it’s worth splashing the extra cash on this one. What’s the best Shark cylinder vacuum cleaner?

Shark is better known for its cordless and upright vacuum cleaners, but here we have something new: the Shark Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner CZ500UKT. Although the old cylinder design is less popular than it once was, the smaller bodies and more flexible heads that happily fit under most furniture make them popular with some (me included). We have a Hetty Pet. Better than our Dyson and we have four dogs!!” (Recommended by Mumsnet user 30degreesandmeltinghere) Our verdict One of the issues with cylinder vacuum cleaners is that they’re not very neat to store, with the hose flopping around. That’s the case here; an upright or cordless vacuum is a neater choice. However, Shark has done as well as it can.

What’s the best Dyson cylinder vacuum cleaner?

The PowerLifter uses a multi-cyclonic system for superior suction strength. Your carpet will benefit from a deep clean even without pet hair. It can reach even deep down debris hidden for longer than you care to admit.

The large 1.9-quart/ 1.6-liter dust cup is capable of holding a decent amount of dust and debris before it will need emptying, and the vacuum is equipped with foam, felt and HEPA filters. These work as part of the anti-allergen complete seal, which, according to Shark, will capture 99.9% of dust and allergens and prevent them from reentering the air. The flexible wand does its job and allows for easy cleaning under low furniture without having to bend. Although it’s not quite so easy to maneuver in this mode, we didn’t feel we had as much control over the direction of vacuuming as when it’s in standard mode. I've got 2 dogs, and recently bought a Shark Pet cylinder cleaner. It's amazing.” Tested by Mumsnetter sueelleker Our verdict Shark has models at quite a few price points and the level of quality varies on how much you invest. The premium and mid-range models come with some great new features and some stellar performance. But, as you go cheaper, they get a little more barebones in terms of features and don’t have as much oomph. They can also suffer from reliability issues as some have reported online. What does “Stratos” means? Because it is not as lightweight as I think it should be at 6.7 kg. For an upright vacuum, that is very lightweight as most come in at least 30% heavier than that. The weight is mainly in the ball so it is bottom-heavy making it feel much lighter, as well.Moving to the difficult carpet tile test, where I sprinkled flour right up to the skirting board, the CZ500UKT did well on Standard mode, although it left a small line of flour by the edge. We were impressed with the dust and dirt collection even if it was slightly horrifying how much it removed from recently vacuumed carpets. Edge cleaning is good, too, and it was able to collect oats from along our baseboards no matter whether we approached with the front or side of the floorhead. It didn’t struggle to remove hair from carpets and we were pleased to see that none of it became tangled in the brushroll. There's a lot going on with the Shark DuoClean & Anti Hair Wrap Bagless Cylinder Pet Vacuum CZ500UKT; it's bursting with features, it has various power and suction settings and there are all of those aforementioned attachments that are now floating around in my flat. The Miele Cat & Dog is lighter and smaller than the Henrys, so it is easier to manoeuvre and store. But it is worth remembering that it has half the capacity, so be prepared for more trips to the dustbin. Forking out for more dust bags also adds to the cost of what is already a pretty pricey vacuum.

Thanks to the long hose and wand, the floor head is super-easy to push around, with very little weight in your hand. And, since there’s no bulk on the wand, you can easily get the head under most bits of furniture. Thanks to Flexology, the wand hinges in the middle at the touch of a button, so you can vacuum under objects without having to bend down.Well, we couldn’t ignore Henry’s punchy little cousin, could we? Henry Pet Pro has a penchant for pet hair and effortlessly gobbles up mess left behind by even the dirtiest of dogs. This vac also does the business when it comes to long human hair too. I've been using this vacuum for months now, and I can safely say that I'm a fan. You can set it up and use it without fuss (or needing to wait for charge), it has excellent suction, and the controls and look of it are expensive. The added attachments are all useful and worth their place in the box, and I love using the long wand to get under my sofas and bed on my rounds around my flat.

Bagged/bagless: Bagged | Capacity: 9 litres | Weight: 8 kg | Run time: N/A | Charging time: N/A | Included tools: combi floor tool, Airobrush 270 for deep-cleaning carpets and large areas, Airobrush 14 for stairs, upholstery and smaller areas, crevice tool, dusting tool, brush and mattress tool What we like Cylinder vacuum cleaners can be used on different surfaces, such as carpet, laminate, lino and hardwood flooring. And they're lightweight, so it's easy to move them from one room to the next. They're also quieter than their upright cousins. Brands You Can Trust Bagged/bagless: Bagless | Capacity: 2 litres | Weight: 11.1kg | Run time: N/A | Charging time: N/A | Included tools: Turbo brush, dusting brush, upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle What we like In all, if you don’t have a big area to clean, or you just need a second hoover for smaller jobs, then I highly recommend the Karcher VC5 bagless. It is one of the best lightweight bagless vacuums and at a decent price.

A plug-in cleaner with all of Shark’s best design features

Highly manoeuvrable, it can follow you over the carpet and glide around furniture. Only 4 kg, it is light enough to hold while hoovering the stairs. Some nice features make it stand out. It is easy to use since the steel hose is telescopic. It collapses into the body and becomes a handheld duster perfect for using in the car or furniture. Just like the original Henry, the Pet Pro comes with a range of useful tools and a huge nine-litre capacity, meaning he has an insatiable appetite for dust and dirt. But like Henry, this vacuum cleaner is also heavy and bulky, so the Pet Pro’s size is something that would need to be taken into account when purchasing. A 2-litre dustbin won’t have you emptying the canister after every cleaning. Even if you have a large area to clean. Unlike some models of upright vacuums, the dustbin on the Zanussi AirSpeed is very easy to detach and empty.
