Future Ratboy and the Invasion of the Nom Noms by Jim Smith! Future Ratboy and the Invasion of the Nom Noms by Jim Smith!

One of the World Book Day 2014 Authors After graduating with a first class degree in advertising, graphic design and illustration in 1997, Jim Smith was spotted by the owner of a small coffee shop chain and brought in to fill the walls of their flagship store with his paintings. Then he meets Rhubarb. Rhubarb is OBSESSED with mysteries and has her own school newspaper to investigate the strange goings on in Donut. (Unfortunately nothing ever happens in Donut so she's never had anything to write about.) Super Weird Mysteries is a hilarious new series, perfect for readers aged 7 and up, and fans of DogMan, Pamela Butchart and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. We were send a copy of this book by the publisher Jelly Pie / Egmont in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my review or my opinions in any way. Thank you for sending us this book to read and review.

Will they get to the bottom of the Donut Hole Monster mystery before it’s too late and the whole town is brainwashed? From the bestselling and Roald Dahl Funny Prize-winning author of Barry Loser comes the third book in the brilliant Future Ratboy series! Perfect for readers aged 7-10 years old and fans of David Solomons, Pamela Butchart, Tom Gates and Mr Gum. When a bolt of lightning hits Colin Lampost (and his toy bird, Bird), he is zapped millions of years into the future! Life will never be the same again. Bird has been brought to life as Not Bird and Brian’s DNA is fused with a rat giving him superkeel powers. Future Ratboy is born!

Future Ratboy and the Quest for the Missing Thingy

Future Ratboy and the Quest for the Missing Thingy" is the third book in the Future Ratboy series although no prior knowledge of the others is necessary for this one. That's because the book opens with a "Previously on Future Ratboy..." section where all the characters are introduced and the premise explained. But then Melvin notices that the kids at school are acting very strangely. Could it be something to do with the Donut Hole Monsters that everyone is collecting? In this new adventure, can Future Ratboy and Not Bird save Shnozville from the bitey little insects that are turning everyone into zombies? Will they defeat the evil Mr X? And how will they ever find their way home? This book is about a kid called Colin Lamppost and one stormy night he jumped into a bin which had a TV, a rat and his cuddly teddy, bird, but then the lightening suddenly hit the bin!!! He got transported millions of years into the future!!! He then finds he has to fight two killer robot grannies and Mr X as they are stealing body parts from other people! When Melvin moves from the city to Donut (a perfectly round island with a hole in the middle), he thinks it's the most rubbish place ever.

I’ve not done anything like what the characters in Future Ratboy do, but I wish I could throw popcorn in the air like Colin Lamppost as that is what he always wanted to do. Soon Melvin and Rhubarb are on the trail of a mystery – one that is going to lead them right into the centre of the donut hole& And Rhubarb might actually have something to write about in her newspaper, if they make it out alive. Colin Lamppost was "zapped from [his] home town of Shnozville millions of years into the future and [he] was transformed into a half boy, half rat, half TV". That is Future Ratboy. The story involves the evil Mr X who was last seen kidnapping The Wise Old Vending Machine (just writing that sentence sounds ridiculous, or ridikeelous, but that is the way this story is, but in a good way). Anyway Mr X has transformed The Wise Old Vending Machine into Gozo the Vending Machine Monster who is wreaking havoc on Shnozville and the only way to stop him is to find the missing thingy (Thingys being the name of a cereal no longer produced - "The painful way to eat cereal" was their tagline). When a bolt of lightning hits Colin Lampost (and his toy bird, Bird), he is zapped millions of years into the future! Life will never be the same again. Bird has been brought to life as Not Bird and Colin's DNA is fused with a rat giving him superkeel powers. Future Ratboy is born!

The funny part that made me laugh was when Future Ratboy screamed ‘RAT!’ and pointed at himself!!! The whole book made me laugh.
