Were there elements you wanted to make sure you incorporated to highlight themes in the Lamb family story? Do you think his obsession with Kris is ominous, or simply due to the trauma he experienced as a child? What are the similarities and differences in the ways Henry and Lucy Lamb deal with their past traumas?

However, I did read a super long spoiler review of it to get a grasp on wassup because I was mad confused at first. I remembered the first book mostly although the details eluded me until this book reminded me, very well, of what exactly had happened in the first book. Alix is a podcast journalist who interviews successful and fascinating women about their lives and careers. Despite him not being massively likeable, I still really felt for him because his childhood and adolescence must have been utter hell, so is it any wonder he has turned into the complex person he is today? So, DCI Owusu starts trying to put the pieces together of what happened all those years ago when people died and people disappeared from 16 Cheyne Walk. This one is small and quiet by comparison about two women who live in the same corner of north London. I don’t want to say too much more as I don’t want to spoil the plot, but I was completely enthralled by this story. Along with Miller, it was her job to find out what had happened at the house on Cheyne Walk, to uncover its secrets and rediscover her family.

You committed a serious crime and you're just in the streets because some small town Detective wants to keep an eye on you? There are several POVs and many mysteries to resolve, including the detective trying to solve the case, Rachel; a recently married jewelry designer, Lucy Lamb; who fled London 30 years ago; and her creepy brother, Henry, who, to put it mildly, has some issues. Do you think Henry skirts the moral line so well because he understands where the moral high ground should be? Henry is adamant about finding Phin and following certain leads ends up in Chicago, temporarily severing contact with his sister and her kids who, however, track him down and promptly follow him to the Windy City. Now back to my first paragraph, I actually think you have to read The Family Upstairs first to truly to take the full journey with this book. After a year’s separation, Rachel receives word that her husband has been found dead from stab wounds in his house in Antibes, France. DCI Owusu is an excellent detective, and he follows the clues, as sparse as they initially are, to identifying the woman as one Birdie Dunlop-Evers, who twenty-five years ago lived at the Chelsea mansion where three adults were found dead from an apparent suicide pact.
